There is no fee for me to attend as an author. However, if my book cannot be carried by the festival bookstore, my book will be placed on consignment status. This means I will bring my own books to the festival for the bookstore to sell. In most cases this applies to self-published authors and many authors who publish through a small press. This also means I will need to bring my books with me to the festival. The festival will not order my books for me. Books submitted for review will not be returned under any circumstances. My books will be donated or utilized for fundraising by the Louisville Book Festival, a nonprofit charity. I have read the criteria to apply and have my book(s) considered by the Book Festival committee. The Louisville Book Festival seeks to highlight new work. We accept authors and review select books for acceptance. In most cases, my entire backlist will not be accepted by the Festival. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by July 31. Inquiries about acceptance sent prior to this date will not be answered due to our limited staff availability. The only items approved to sell at the festival are book-related items. If I sell other merchandise that is not directly related to my books during the festival I will be asked to leave immediately. This decision will be at the sole discretion of the Festival director. If I am a self-published author I will be required to attend a mandatory online training prior to the festival. I will be required to link directly to the Louisville Book Festival on my website.
